How it starts
Signs You’ve Got a Blocked Drain
Most blocked drains give you warning before they fail properly. If you’re noticing any of these, the blockage is already there, it just hasn’t stopped the pipe completely yet:
- Water draining slowly from the sink, shower or bath
- Gurgling sounds from the toilet or floor waste when you run a tap
- A blocked toilet that rises before it drains, or won’t clear with a plunger
- Bad smells coming up through drains, especially in warm weather
- Water pooling in the yard, around the overflow gully or near the boundary
- Multiple fixtures backing up at once — this one means the blockage is in the main line, not the fixture, and it needs a plumber today
The last one matters most. A single slow sink is a fixture problem. Two or more backing up together means your main sewer line is blocked, and every litre you put down the drain is going to end up somewhere you don’t want it.

Where does the blockage come from
What Causes Blocked Drains in Penrith
Penrith’s drainage problems tend to fall into three groups, and which one you’ve got usually depends on when your street was built.
Tree roots in older clay pipes
The established parts of Penrith, Kingswood, Werrington, Cambridge Park and St Marys were largely built with earthenware sewer pipes. Those pipes have joints, and joints leak a little moisture, which is exactly what a root is looking for. Once a hairline root gets into a joint it thickens over years until it’s a solid plug. This is far and away the most common cause of blocked drains in the older Penrith suburbs.
Ground movement and cracked pipes
The clay soils through the Nepean floodplain swell and shrink with the seasons. That movement puts stress on pipe joints, opens cracks and creates the low spots where waste collects and hardens.
Build-up and debris in newer estates
In Glenmore Park, Jordan Springs, Caddens and Claremont Meadows the pipework is newer PVC and roots are less of an issue — but silt, builders’ debris, wet wipes and fat build-up still block lines, and shallow stormwater runs fill with leaf litter fast.
Stormwater surcharge near the river
Around Emu Plains, Leonay and Regentville, heavy rain on the Nepean flats can overwhelm a stormwater line that’s already half-blocked. If your yard floods every time it rains hard, the drain is usually the reason, not the rain.
What We Do
How We Clear Your Blocked Drain

CCTV Drain Inspection
You get to see exactly what’s wrong before anyone starts quoting. A drain camera is fed through the line to find the blockage, identify what’s causing it and pinpoint how far along the pipe it sits. No guesswork, no digging up a lawn to find out.

High-Pressure Jet Cleaning
Most blockages clear with a high-pressure water jetter. It cuts through tree roots, fat, silt and debris and scours the pipe walls back to clean, which is why a jetted drain stays clear far longer than one that’s been rodded through with an electric eel.

Tree Root Removal & Pipe Repair
Where roots have cracked the pipe, clearing the blockage is only half the job — the roots will come back through the same break. You’ll get a straight assessment of whether the section needs excavation and replacement or whether it can be relined without digging up the yard.

Blocked Stormwater Drains
Blocked stormwater lines, surcharged pits and yard flooding are cleared the same way, camera first, then jetted. If the problem is a collapsed line or an undersized pit you’ll be told that plainly, with a fixed price to fix it properly.
